I graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University and Paterson College.  I moved to Greenwich Village where I danced with the 5 O’Clock Dance Company and worked as a computer programmer for a National Institute of Mental Health Grant at Columbia-Presbyterian Psychiatric Institute.  I studied modern dance with Martha Graham and Merce Cunningham and ballet with Alexandra Danilova at Carnegie Hall.

In 1962 I met my husband, Jay and we married 10 weeks later.  And they said it wouldn’t last!  My dowry was 12 parking tickets that I had accumulated on my Paprika-colored VW convertible.  We then moved to Leonia and lived in the house on Howard Terrace that I had lived in, that my parents still owned.  They had bought and moved into, and still live in, the Young’s house on Oaktree Place that Sue Gilbert had lived in.  Our 2 sons were born in Englewood Hospital.  I sang with the John Harms Chorus.
We then moved to Manchester, CT when Jay  became the general manager of a local daily newspaper, the Journal Inquirer, and I joined the Truda Kaschmann Dance Co. in Hartford.  Next we moved to Bedford, NY where Jay was publisher of the Mount Kisco paper, The Patent Trader.  I taught dance at the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility, which was later famous for housing Jean Harris, the woman who killed the Scardsdale Diet doctor.
In 1978 we came to Stamford when Jay became the publisher of the Stamford Advocate and the Greenwich Time.  I became involved with the community and was on the boards of the Hartman Theatre, the Friends of the Ferguson Library and the Stamford Community Arts Council.  I was a recipient of an Artist in Residence grant from the Connecticut Commission on the Arts.  I used the grant to teach day care, pre-school and after-school dance programs.  I have also done choreography for amateur theatre groups.   I’m presently on the boards of the Stamford Theatre Works, the Bartlett Arboretum and Gardens and the Stamford Chorale with whom I have sung for 25 years.  I also sing with Fairfield University Summer Festival Chorus
Currently I teach Pilates, Yoga, Aerobics, Water Aerobics and Line Dance for several city, state and private agencies in addition to Greenwich Hospital and Fairfield University School of Nursing Outreach Program.  I’m also a past president of the Stamford Garden Club, which is part of the Garden Club of America.
WOW!  That was a fast 50!
