I graduated from East Stroudsburg State College in 1960 with a BS degree in Health and Physical Education, and a General Science minor.  From 1960-1963 I taught Physical Education and General Science, coached softball, basketball and field hockey at Fairfield Jr/Sr High School in Fairfield, PA.  I also taught First Aid for the American Red Cross.

From 1963-1966 I was Assistant Director of the Physical Education Department at Penn Hall Prep School and Junior College in Chambersburg, PA, teaching P.E., Athletic Theory, Anatomy and Physiology, and coaching field hockey, basketball and softball.

In May 1966 I was sworn into the US Army as a 1st Lieutenant and served until I retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in August of 1986.  Among my career assignments were: Assistant Chief Firepower, Mobility Branch, Stock Control Division at Long Binh, Vietnam; WAC Recruiting Officer for Eastern PA, Delaware and South Jersey; Army Logistics Division with the National Guard Bureau, Pentagon; Assistant Chief of Staff for Services in Taegu, Korea; and Chief of the Supply, Maintenance and Services Division, 2nd Army Headquarters, Ft. Gillem, GA,  working with all Army Reserve and National Guard units in the southeastern US, including Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.  Over my career I received the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medals and the Army Commendation Medals.

The Army provided me with opportunities to travel to other countries including Sidney, Australia, Okinawa and the Philippines.  I have also traveled and camped in the mainland US and Alaska, as well as Canada.  In January 1999 I went to Honduras with a church group to rebuild houses after Hurricane Mitch.
