For the past 42 years I've lived in Marquette, MI, one of the nation's Most Liveable Cities.  We are on the south shore of Lake Superior in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.  Marquette is becoming a favorite retirement location with a fine Regional Medical Center, Northern Michigan University, a great harbor and year round outdoor sports.  It is a major shipping port for the iron mining industry.

I love xc skiing, snowshoeing, hiking and biking.  Locally I am known as a quilter.  I have taught classes, made public presentations  and entered numerous quilt shows.  My quilts are inspired by the environment and local events - dogsled races, winter sports, plants and animals (including visiting moose).

I enjoy teaching.  Currently I meet school groups as a docent at the University Art Museum.  Earlier I spent a lot of time with classroom groups as  the Museum Educator for our local history museum.  In that position I also wrote "Dreamers, Doers and Deeds,  a resource book on Marquette County history for public school teachers.

My degrees in biology from the University of Michigan have not been ignored.  I have led numerous wildflower and fern hikes for our local Elderhostel program.

My husband is a retired biology professor.  We own and manage many acres of forest land.  I am a board member  on the Lower Dead River Watershed Council and on the Central Lake Superior Land Conservancy.  Urban sprawl is a major concern.  Lew and I have 6 married children and 11+ grand children.  All of the families live in interesting places to visit, but not here.  Life has had ups and downs but life has been good to us.
